If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please fill free to come and talk with me. I would love it if you will please keep me informed about anything that may affect your child's learning (for example if a parent is out of town, a grandparent is ill, or if a pet has passed away).
Drop off at school is in the back parking lot. You MUST park in the back lot even if you are walking your child in. There is NO parking in the front lot. Please walk through the breeze way (NOT through the hall) and we will meet at the flag pole.
Holy Rosary Kindergarten
Arrival and Dismissal
The regular class time is 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. The class time for minimum days is 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. Parents should PARK IN THE BACK PARKING LOT and ENTER SCHOOL THROUGH THE BACK GATE. Kindergartners will meet at the flag pole every morning with the whole school. After flag kindergarteners will come with me to the classroom. Please allow your kindergartener to enter class on their own and please do not gather outside of the kindergarten windows. This is very distracting for the students. After school I will walk the students to the back gate and will only dismiss them when I see you. You will need to send a written note if your child will be going home with someone not on the emergency form. A note is also needed if you plan to pick your child up early.
Letters Home
I will be sending home a weekly newsletter. Please read over this every week. It will let you know what we did in our class during that week, what I would like you to review with your child, and any important information about our kindergarten class.
We have a ‘How are you doing?' chart in the classroom. Students will start off everyday with a green card. When a student gets into trouble they will receive a couple warnings then it will be turned to a yellow card and after that a red card. On Friday of every week there will be a ‘Behavior Report' sent home that lets you know how many green, yellow, and red cards your child received. There is a signature line; please sign and return it on Mondays. For those students who received green cards everyday for the week will have the opportunity to choose a treasure from our Treasure Box.
Snacks and Lunches
Students are allowed to bring a snack to eat at the morning recess. Please make sure to pack something for your child. Lunches may be brought from home or purchased through Holy Rosary. Please place your child's recess snack in their backpack and not in their lunch pail. Some children get confused about what to take out to recess and what is for lunch. Please let your child know what their snack is and where it is kept.
Mass Uniforms
Every Friday the school attends Mass together in their Faith Families. Boys must wear pants and girls must wear their jumpers. No one should wear shorts on Friday's.
Birthdays
If you would like to provide a treat for your child's classmates on his / her birthday you are welcome to do so. Please provide individual portions so that I can easily distribute them. Treats should be dropped off in the morning to the classroom or during the day at the school office. BIRTHDAY INVITATIONS ARE NOT TO BE DISTRIBUTED AT SCHOOL, unless they are given out to the whole class.
Personal Belongings
Please LABEL all articles of clothing, backpacks, lunch boxes, etc! If anything is lost we have a Lost and Found in the office. Please do not allow your child to bring toys to school. They are not allowed to play with them in the classroom or at recess.
Parent Helpers
We need parent volunteers on a weekly basis for computer classes. We also need volunteers for all class parties and as drivers on all field trips. Field trip permission forms and sign-ups will go home throughout the school year. In order to volunteer in the classroom or drive on field trips you will need to be fingerprinted. Also, you will need to turn in insurance information if you are driving on field trips.
Star of the Week
This is one of your child's special times in kindergarten. Each child will have the opportunity to be a STAR of the Week! For his / her week a child can share books, awards, photographs, art samples, favorite toys, etc. Please make a poster to show the class special things about your child. You may include pictures on this poster. Please do not make the poster heavy because then we are unable to hang it in our classroom. Please also notify me in advance if your child would like to bring in a family pet for a few minutes one day during his / her week. I will be keeping these posters and displaying them at Open House. They will go home after Open House.
P.E. Days
Our class will attend P.E. four days a week for 45 minutes each day. Please send your child to school wearing athletic shoes that they are able to run around in. Also, please send the girls to school with shorts under their jumper everyday.
Book Club
Your child will have the opportunity to order books each month through SeeSaw Book Club. An order form will be sent home each month; those wishing to purchase items will need to return the order form to me along with a check made out to the book club or cash.
Extra Uniform
Please leave an extra uniform in your child's backpack. This will be used if your child has a bathroom accident, or if they get wet or muddy playing outside.
